Doesn’t seem like much progress. 4 lbs. I am attempting to look on the bright side and at least I did not add 4 lbs. I have not really tried to lose more weight but have been concentrating on getting in better shape. I have not increased my workout much since last post but I am at least consistantly getting to the workout. I do need to increase the number of days I work out from 3 to at least 5. This will be my goal for March I guess. Until then … keep at it yourself.
Almost a month and only 4 lb lost.

Progress on my weight loss trek
February 6th, 2007 · No Comments
I am still maintaining my weight loss of 24 lbs total. That’s from a starting weight of 274 lbs on November 3, 2006. I am currently doing light cardiovascular workouts three times a week. I was having trouble keeping to the three day a week schedule but it appears I have finally found the time of day that works. My workout consists of about 5 to 8 minutes of stretching and light weights. I follow this up with a 10 minute ride on the stationary bike at around level 5. I then do an upper body cardiovascular workout followed by 20 minutes on the treadmill. I am currently at a 3.2 mph pace with a level 3 incline. This is not too bad although it works my calf muscles more then I expected. I have been increasing the intensity every day on each of the segments and believe I have finally reached a moderate workout level. I will probably hold these levels for the remainder of the week. See how it goes from there.

Motivation for losing weight
January 25th, 2007 · No Comments
If the standard motivational responses don’t work then consider what will happen if you don’t get motivated? I lost 16 pounds in 45 days in The Great Weigh-In challenge round one. I gained it all back in the next 45 days. Obviously the challenge was not the best motivator for controlled, sustained weight loss. I have since lost 24 pounds starting on November 5th 2006. I had a great motivator. I have keep the weight off and made several changes to my eating habits to maintain my current weight. I have done nothing really drastic but have used the simplest methods and some common sense to make the weight stay off. Smaller meals, virtually removed fried foods, & of course I eat more vegetables and fruits. Moderation is the key like Grandma always said. I need to lose another 30 pounds or so. I am starting a moderate exercise program and we will see how that goes. Stay tuned …

A few months after The Great Weigh In
November 25th, 2006 · No Comments
It’s been a few months and everyone in the competition has gained back some of the weight they lost. Clint was the only one to continue to maintain his weight near competition levels. Currently everyone is attempting to stay healthier by doing more exercise.

Round 2 of The Great Weigh In has ended
September 28th, 2006 · No Comments
No real updates and no real enthusiasm for the competition. The winner, by default, appears to be Clint with one un-named contestant conceding the competition. Bruce and Clay are holding out on the weigh in and officially ending round 2. Not wanting to add more to the already large loses I presume.
Until the next Weigh-in

Less then a week remains and the final push is on
July 29th, 2006 · No Comments
With less then a week to go it looks like the leaders and the instigators; Clint & Clay. Clint has modified his tactics some and has been seen at Wal-Mart in the pharmacy sections. Not sure how plastic wrap got into the basket though! Clay is still the silent one but let slip his real weight loss and appears to be closing on Clay fast … or is that slow… Oops that was a flash back to the foot race pictured above.
Scott let slip that he is 1 point off the leader but may have hit the valley without some drastic measures. Bruce is believed to be coming up with yet another theory (thanks Lisa) on weight loss and will start execution soon. Unfortunately, the final weekend has him out of town “eating healthy†… I’m sure. Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Jerry (not part of the challenge) is giving “liquid†advice to all in an effort to see how desperate everyone really is. Based on my sideline conversation, there are at least a few people considering the advice. It looks like this weekend could be the deciding factor.
As for me, well let’s just say that this message is the start of my exercise program. Not sure how many calories a two finger typist can burn but I have a few days so we shall see.

Two weeks remaining in The Great Weigh In challenge
July 21st, 2006 · No Comments
It’s Friday and less the two weeks remains in The Great Weigh In challenge. What I hear today is that several people have hit the plateau, or valley, and the current weight loss techniques have stopped working. Clint was on vacation and put on a few. I did well on my eating this week to make up for the weekend but I have stopped losing weight daily. Looks like it’s time to hit the gym!
Clay & Scott are still looking like contenders and we believe Bruce is going the wrong direction or maybe he is in the wrong challenge. (Anyone have some lemon cake?)
