Sick of these large corporation diet plans. Having trouble losing the weight you want. Feel like your eating habits are just making you feel more and more unhealthy. Here are a few tips to get you on your way to a slimmer waist and a healthy diet.

Fiber

Fiber is a great food to start including more of in your diet. Fiber is great because it helps to move the fat we eat through our body faster. Therefore reducing the amount of fat that you absorb. Fiber is also healthy because it keeps you bowel movements normal which keeps you from building up waste. Fiber is also great because it helps prevent certain diseases.

100% whole grain foods tend to include more fiber. Stay away from white breads, rice, and pasta. These are complex or starchy carbs that just turn into sugar when they are digested in your body. You will also notice feeling fuller with whole grains compared to whites even though your eating the same. Whole grains stay in your stomach longer and is the reason you feel fuller.

Some great foods to find Fiber in are Oatmeal, 100% percent whole grain breads, rice, and pasta, Certain Cereals; Dry Fruits such as raisins and dates; Vegetables such as broccoli, green peas, spinach and other green veggies; and a few nuts such as soy nuts and almonds.

Getting in your Protein

Eggs and Red Meat are great ways to get your daily protein levels in. High protein foods are great for weight loss because the make you feel full for longer and the help retain muscle during your weight loss process.

Diet. The phrase you are what you eat couldn’t be more true in this situation. I’m not saying that you have to starve yourself in order to lose weight, or spend 100 dollars a month on the Jennie Craig diet plan. All you need to do is eat healthy. This means not [...]

Step one:

Diet. The phrase you are what you eat couldn’t be more true in this situation. I’m not saying that you have to starve yourself in order to lose weight, or spend 100 dollars a month on the Jennie Craig diet plan. All you need to do is eat healthy. This means not eating as many sweets, and fatty foods as you and I would probably like. Stick to fruits and vegetables, well done healthy meat, potatoes.

Step Two:

Instead of stuffing your face and only eating twice a day, spread out your meals and eat little amounts but as often as possible. It is very important that you have little snacks throughout the day. Taking vitamins and and balancing out your food throughout the day is the best way to keep a healthy body while keeping your organs healthy and happy too. This is key in trying to lose weight, and keep it off!

Step Three:

Drink water! I know a lot of people think water just adds more weight on this is not entirely true. Your body need water, and the happier your body is the faster your metabolism with be. This means that your food will digest faster, and it will allow you to get full faster as well. Make sure you stay away from juices with a lot of sugar, and most definitely stay away from soda. Soda is probably the worse thing you can drink if you are trying to lose weight in a healthy fashion. I hope this helps.

If this helped you, or if you enjoy Carolina’s views on health and fitness, you might be interested in checking out Carolina’s new websites on Funnel Cake Fryer and Propane Deep Fryer

The body just does not work like it used to. No losing weight these day due to everyday factors like time. My workout at the gym hit a snag last week. I did not get the exercise I needed. With the children in school and after school activities, time to workout has suffered. Work has also not helped as well. The biggest problem is still the food intake is greater then the calories expelled. Need to work out consistently which means a change in the schedule some way to make it possible. I am also due at the doctor soon so I best shape up.

The cold weather is still taking a toll on the weight lose campaign. Of course the gym is heated and indoors so maybe that is not a good excuse for the weight lose or lack there of. How about taking a toll on my golf game … that’s it. I have not been out to the range or course for a while but that will hopefully change soon as the weather warms up.

I have been more consistent in my gym time but not enough to be worth while. Still need to consistently get to the gym 5 days a week. I am currently working on reducing my calorie intake as well. Trying to burn more calories then I take in each day. Not as easy and is sounds, especially with the children and all the activities that includes. I also need to schedule my time at the gym and, I think, the type of workout I do each visit. Getting so I can’t remember the weight and reps I do on each machine.

Well until next time and another boring update.

I got tired of the old “connections” theme on the blog and decided on this new one (Cutline by Chris Pearson) for the moment. The old theme did not support the widget function and I wanted to try that out for several plugins. The classic header picture does not exactly fit in the space the Cutline theme images take up but I figured it was to classic a shot to remove. The “guys” would miss them anyway since they are reminders of what was. I also don’t have the originals to re-edit. I will work on that or decide to find a different set of pictures.

My daily workout has slipped to about three days a week but I have also been hitting the golf course as I mentioned before. I took the game back up in an effort to have funand get some exercise too. I have been slow to start but I am having fun playing the game again. I have also found that it was more exercise then I thought even riding in a golf cart. That may be because I am more out of shape then I expected.

I have been busy at work which is good and not good. I have gained and lost weight …. again. Doesn’t seem like much progress but I am at least back to were I was in March. I am attempting to look on the bright side, “again”, in that I did not gain 40 lbs. I basically fell off the (food) wagon in April and May and was not watching my food intake as well as I should. I only gained 7-9lbs total but I also slacked off on my exercise in late May.

Now I am getting back into the swing of the exercise program and attempting to make it a part of my morning routine. I am not doing anything heavy but keeping it steady and consistent. Ride the stationary bike for 30 minutes then lift some light weights for upper body strength. Depending on morning time I will hit the treadmill for a 30 minute walk. I do some light leg weights every other day. Until I get used to the workouts I will keep this up for the next few months.

The best part about needing exercise is that I decided Golf would be another good place to get a fun workout. I am planning on getting back to the links in a few weeks. It has been a while since I played so I am getting some new clubs.

Keep at it yourself.

As part of my daily routine these days, I need to constantly verify that my blood pressure is not getting to high. I also need to keep close watch on my blood pressure during my excercise routine. With that being said, I picked up a blood pressure monitor. The Omron HEM-780 is a simple upper-arm-positioned monitor that

The readings with this monitor are much more consistent than those obtained with the wrist monitor. The monitor is very easy to use and functions automatically once you turn it on and press the start button. After each measurement, it digitally displays both the systolic (higher) value, diastolic (lower) value, and the pulse (heart rate) plus the date. Furthermore it saves these values sequentially for the 90 most recent measurements — a real convenience for comparing values over time. I highly recommend this product.
